Louisiana Main Street Restoration Grants provide matching funds to encourage the revitalization of historic downtown commercial properties in designated Louisiana Main Street districts. The Louisiana Main Street Restoration Grants serve as an effort to promote community revitalization and stimulate economic growth and vitality, in addition to enriching cultural tourism. Community reinvestment utilizing historic preservation practices improves community economic health by fostering renewed interest in shopping, working, and living downtown.

STATE HISTORIC TAX CREDITS
PROVIDED BY LOUISIANA CULTURAL PRESERVATION
The 35% State Commercial Tax Credit Program is jointly administered by the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation and the Louisiana Department of Revenue. The Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation acts as an applicant's first point of contact and reviews applications for compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation; the Louisiana Department of Revenue reviews project costs. The credit is available for those income-producing buildings that are contributing elements to Downtown Development Districts or certified Cultural Districts. Rehabilitation projects must exceed $10,000 in qualified rehabilitation expenses and must be completed according to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. Once earned, credits are fully transferable and may be carried forward for up to five years.
FEDERAL HISTORIC TAX CREDITS

Administered by the National Park Service in conjunction with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO), the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives program offers a 20% federal tax credit for qualified rehabilitation expenses. Thousands of property owners across the country have already utilized these incentives to rehabilitate historic commercial buildings and similar properties.
